"What you see is what you see." - Frank Stella abstract art exponent NYC b.1936 - d.2024

Marks made by human hand are uniquely appealing. Making marks, simple doodles, sweeps, splashes or flows of colors, no rhyme or reason, no meaning, no recognizable shapes or forms, no visual tropes, just the human hand, making marks on large canvases for the purpose of being wall decorations and nothing more, or, less. The appeal of the finished painting being only in the eye of the beholder - kinda like love at first sight, or, NOT!

An abstract painting, hanging on a wall, in your space, quietly existing, maybe catching your eye in a tranquil moment and being looked at anew, colorful and static, your eyes following lines, seeing patterns or images where none exist. Something that you had not noticed before, just appearing in your vision, providing enjoyment in the real movement of the moment without making demands on your mind or emotions. The large colorful canvas with marks made by human hand becoming a part of the space its in, contributing to the decor by pleasing the eye. Georgia O'Keefe said the purpose of art is - "filling a space in a beautiful way". Of course beauty is in the eye of the beholder!
